Happy 2009! Been taking it easy over the holidays but working on some things again finally! Here's a podcast recorded a week ago featuring The Cartel, of which I am a member.

Here's a link to the audio!

Hilarity ensues guaranteed. Nerdcity is a cool website that you should look at everyday too.

So what I'm working on now is a painting for a benefit show for Simple gallery on Feb. 7th. Simple gallery will be my friend Dee Clement's new project and is really exciting, there will be lots of great art at the show and proceeds will go to finding the gallery a home. Fall is fallen upon thee.

Sniff. Sniff. Sniff. Love that fall air, Normally Chicago is like 40 degrees out right now. Not so. 70!? Whats going on!?

Couple things for you to do this weekend while you watch the leaves turn brown:

This Saturday October, 11th @ Ohnodoom! gallery is the "We need each other" show, which is a giant exquisite corpse by over 40 chicago artists. Here's a sneak preview of one of my pieces. I only had an inch of the other sides to work with:

Will post full shots and hopefully some show pics after this weekend.

Also, that mural from a while back I worked on with Thor and some folks was written about on Center Stage Chicago.

READ IT HERE

It was really great working with the local folks and kids. I think both crime and gentrification are crappy attributes of our society and do not wish either on the great folks of Bridgeport. Also, I am not a "tagger" as chronicled in this article. However, I was influenced by and participated in graffiti as a teenager. I also sometimes paint murals with spraypaint. Go figure.

Also shouts to biengtotallysweetinchicago for blogging about it.

Wax Burners @ a.okay official

For the Sept. 12th prayer candle show @ a.okay official. I think it's a great idea. My roommate has a collection of these. The border designs really stood out to me and I tried to incorporate that. The title is "We don't need no water". Get it?

I have the original drawing for sale, its about 9x5 ink on bristol, suitable for framing! They also have yoink t-shirts and buttons so be sure to pick some up at the opening!

Fall is approaching!

Mural in Bridgeport with Thor

Thor was kind enough to shout at me to paint this mural with him and a couple other dudes on the co-prosperity sphere in Bridgeport, Chicago. It was a fun, beer-filled, rainy, paint-covered experience. I used a smelly milk jug to pour paint into. The locals were all really nice and seemed to dig it.

(click on the image for the large view in glorious detail.)

Someone took this really cool picture which was on the Chicagoist the other day.

If anyone wants a owl movement shirt please holler, I have some left that I would like to get rid of as well as the owl painting from the clothes optional show and the Shawnimals custom plushform. Both are available at a discounted rate for my loyal blog readers until August 5th.
