Fall is fallen upon thee.

Sniff. Sniff. Sniff. Love that fall air, Normally Chicago is like 40 degrees out right now. Not so. 70!? Whats going on!?

Couple things for you to do this weekend while you watch the leaves turn brown:

This Saturday October, 11th @ Ohnodoom! gallery is the "We need each other" show, which is a giant exquisite corpse by over 40 chicago artists. Here's a sneak preview of one of my pieces. I only had an inch of the other sides to work with:

Will post full shots and hopefully some show pics after this weekend.

Also, that mural from a while back I worked on with Thor and some folks was written about on Center Stage Chicago.

READ IT HERE

It was really great working with the local folks and kids. I think both crime and gentrification are crappy attributes of our society and do not wish either on the great folks of Bridgeport. Also, I am not a "tagger" as chronicled in this article. However, I was influenced by and participated in graffiti as a teenager. I also sometimes paint murals with spraypaint. Go figure.

Also shouts to biengtotallysweetinchicago for blogging about it.

For the Sept. 12th prayer candle show @ a.okay official. I think it's a great idea. My roommate has a collection of these. The border designs really stood out to me and I tried to incorporate that. The title is "We don't need no water". Get it?

I have the original drawing for sale, its about 9x5 ink on bristol, suitable for framing! They also have yoink t-shirts and buttons so be sure to pick some up at the opening!

Fall is approaching!

Mural in Bridgeport with Thor

Thor was kind enough to shout at me to paint this mural with him and a couple other dudes on the co-prosperity sphere in Bridgeport, Chicago. It was a fun, beer-filled, rainy, paint-covered experience. I used a smelly milk jug to pour paint into. The locals were all really nice and seemed to dig it.

(click on the image for the large view in glorious detail.)

Someone took this really cool picture which was on the Chicagoist the other day.

If anyone wants a owl movement shirt please holler, I have some left that I would like to get rid of as well as the owl painting from the clothes optional show and the Shawnimals custom plushform. Both are available at a discounted rate for my loyal blog readers until August 5th.

Some Newly Launched Sites to Watch

A few fellow Chicago artists and good friends of mine decided to finally make what has been a long time coming. check It out our work and events at www.wearecartel.com

a bit from the mission statement:

Cartel is a collaborative effort of artists who create in the Midwest. Chicago is no stranger to the art world boasting a heavy dose of institutions, galleries, and home to about a billion artists and counting. We created Cartel to separate ourselves from the bevy of talent this city has to offer. We are no better or worse than any other working artists out here and believe that we have a unique perspective on things with all of our different styles.

Wearecartel.com will be home to 12 different artists working and creating in Chicago, sharing their experiences with you. We hope to entertain and inform you on just a small piece of what this great city has to offer artistically.

I will be updating work both here and there regularly, but this may be a little bit more personal, so read both!

Also, Freshlydipped.com is a recently launched website where you can by my artwork, as well as work by other artists. Please check it out and if you are interested you can hit me up with any questions as to how this works. Its really simple, and priced to move!!!

Vinylmore @ Atomic Pop!

Hey Baltimore! I was asked to be in a show in the new toy store Atomic Pop! I hope those of you I know who still live there will go to the opening and then drink a bunch of Natty Boh for me! Anyhow, Here's my piece:

And to make it relevant there's a story that goes with him, read on!

Sammy Goat was my cat I had when I lived In Baltimore. He was the best cat, and I think he thought he was a person because he would look up at you and talk in intermittent meows that sounded like he was talking. He would respond to Sammy Goat, Sammy Gittner, Samuel J Goat, Sammy bin Laden, or Whammy Bar. I had to give him to my Mom, who lives in the boondocks and he got ran down by a redneck. This is a dedication to him.

As always click to view bigger. I hope you dig him!
